Quranic Reflections – Juz 1
How many times has the world dazzled us so we sought it out fervently, not realising that what we already have is tons better.

Ramadan Day 30 – Reflections
In a world that is fast being engulfed by darkness of all sorts, most of us yearn for some light. There are people that walk the earth with light; they see with clear clarity and are enlightened from within. It doesn’t mean that they don’t have any problems, but it means that despite the problems, they feel peace and are well-nourished and protected by their Iman.
Ramadan Day 29 – Reflections
We are as different as the grains of sand on earth, and if you know anything about sand particles you’ll know how vastly different we are. This is not only to be celebrated, but it’s also to be understood…
Ramadan Day 28 – The night prayer of the prophet
“The Prophet PBUH never prayed more than eleven units, whether during Ramadan or otherwise. He would perform four units but do not ask about their beauty and length, then he’d perform another four units, but do not ask about their beauty and length, then he’d pray three (witr)”
(Bukhari and Muslim)
Is “being upon the prophetic way” just about imitating the number of the prophet’s units at night, or does it also include imitating the quality of those units as well?

Ramadan Day 27 – Strive every day and continue to strive for good
Whilst it’s true that the 27th night of Ramadan is a likely candidate for Laylatul Qadr, it is baffling to see the disproportionate emphasis on it at the expense of other nights.
If the Prophet Mohammad PBUH himself was made to forget the exact date of Laylatul Qadr, how then can anyone after him claim certain knowledge of it?!

Ramdan Day 26 – Knowledge must lead to action
The greater the dosage of Qur’an, the greater the generosity of the Prophet PBUH would become, or, you could say, the more he learned, the more he did.

Ramadan 25 – He died in Ramadan
On these closing nights of Ramadan, that final push really does say a lot about who this person is in Allah’s Eyes. Ensure you that remain committed right till the end;
Till the end of Ramadan, and till the end of your life.
The Ramadan Burnout
The believer who knows His Rabb is mindful of finding meaning in his acts of worship. He might not be perfect in doing this but he tries. He may have certain goals—perhaps he has assigned himself certain chapters to recite each day. Each morning he reminds himself to not let this assigned quantity become the goal. The quantity of recitation that he has assigned for himself is a means to an end. The end is a connection with Allāh. It is mindfulness of Allāh. With each page he turns he tries to engage his heart to find that connection.

What invalidates the fast?
Some of the things that invalidate the fast involve things coming out of the body, such as intercourse, deliberate vomiting, menstruation and cupping. These things that come out of the body weaken it. Hence Allaah has described them as being things that invalidate the fast, so that the fasting person will not combine the weakness that results from fasting with the weakness that results from these things, and thus be harmed by his fast or his fast no longer be moderate. Some of the things that invalidate the fast involve things entering the body, such as eating and drinking. If the fasting person eats or drinks, he does not achieve the purpose of fasting.

What are the reasons for which one may be excused from fasting in Ramadaan?
One of the ways in which Allah has made things easy for His slaves is that He has only enjoined fasting upon those who are able to do it, and He has excused those who are unable to fast for a legitimate shar’i reason.

Ramadan Day 24 – It’s special when your spouse praises you
Just like the Prophet Mohammad PBUH did at home, be an example, raise the bar, and let your presence always be that reminder of Allah and the Home of the Hereafter, both during Ramadan and beyond.
Ramadan Day 23 – This is what they had to say about the Qur’an
Shaykhul Islam Ibnu Taymiyya said towards the end of his life:
وندمت على تضييع أكثر أوقاتي في غير معاني القرآن
“I regret having wasted the majority of my time in other than the meanings of the Qur’an.
Ramadan Day 22 – Three messages for what remains of Ramadan
Say “Astaghfirullah”, but position your heart correctly first;
Make it repentance that fixes your gazes, influences your private conversations, purifies your finances and improves your public appearances.
Ramadan Day 21 – Don’t recline just yet!
We’re at the last leg of Ramadan.
Work patiently today.
Recline in Jannah tomorrow.
You will not be let down.
Ramadan Day 20 – Horses are not better than us!
Ahead of you are the last ten nights of Ramadan, which means that the finish line is now so close. This is when hearts must break like never before at the doorstep of Allah, and if you’re true to Him then rest assured that you shall not be disadvantaged by your slow start in the least.
Ramadan Day 19 – Don’t mock them
Next time you hear yourself saying to you:
“Those Ramadan Muslims! Now they show up to the Masjid?!”
remember that Allah may end up pardoning their shortcomings but not your arrogance.
Ramadan Day 18 – One of the toughest forms of worship
There’s only so much that the human heart can house, and if you’ve filled it with sins, distractions, addictions and perversions, then how will Khushoo’ finds its place when it’s constantly being evicted? Each and every one of us knows exactly where to start and what inner items need unloading.
Ramadan Day 17 – Reconcile before it’s too late
Be the better believer, humiliate Shayṭan, apologise, and remove every obstacle in your way this Ramadan.
Ramadan Day 16 – Appreciating time and making good use of it
Hours, minutes, and seconds, that’s what you are, and so each day of Ramadan that ends demarcates the ending of a part of you.
